LocalWatch is designed to be a "set it and forget it" tool. Follow these steps to start monitoring your competitors.
Open the LocalWatch popup by clicking the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. Paste the Google Maps link of the business you want to monitor into the input field and click Add.
The extension will take about 5-10 seconds to load the page in the background and capture the current review count and rating. Once it shows a Live badge, the baseline is saved.
LocalWatch checks your competitors once every 24 hours. If they get a burst of new reviews, change their rating, or post an update, you will receive a Chrome notification in the bottom right corner of your screen.
When you open the popup, any competitor that has changed will show the previous value → current value with a strikethrough, so you instantly know what happened while you were away.
Does this export data?
No. LocalWatch is a
monitoring tool, not a scraper. It only reads the public review count
and rating from the page you added.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored
locally in your browser. No account is needed, and no data is sent to
our servers.
